Thank you for supporting our community!

Thank you for your generosity for our Adopt-A-Family community outreach program. Once again, we are so pleased with the many individuals came through in order to assist  our families in need during this holiday season.  We do not take for granted how fortunate we are to work in such a caring community.  The wish lists for all of our families have now been completed. Thank you all very much!

Important Update on the Witch Way Fun Run

Image
Update It looks like the Wicked Witch of the West is playing a cruel trick on us with the weather for the Lurgio Witch Way Fun Run on Saturday, October 27th. Instead of a tornado, we are getting a Nor'easter. In keeping with our theme of more FUN, we have decided to move our fundraiser indoors, which means we have been able to add more games and activities for the whole family to enjoy. While we won’t be able to trick or trot down County Road, we will be taking our bibbed participants through the school to visit our Halloween-themed pit stops on a journey that culminates in the gymnasium and dining hall with the fun activities of our Witch Way Family Fun Fest. In addition to the costume contest and raffles prizes, we will also have Halloween-themed crafts, inflatable bounce houses, face painting, pumpkin decorating, and so much more! Schedule of Events: 9:30-10:30 Registration and bib/t-shirt pickup (Media Center) 9:30-11:00 Halloween-themed Pit Stops Op

Memorial Day

Image
We had a special all school meeting today. Principal Schappler shared the following with the students. In 1945, the town of Bedford voted to establish a memorial for the young men of Bedford who were serving in the war.  Three years later, in 1948, the committee had  not found suitable land nor the money to pay for the memorial. Then, in the spring of 1955, construction began on a new school to reduce overcrowding. The school opened in September of 1955, 10 years after the town had decided to pay tribute to our soldiers.  It was decided to name the school Memorial School as a tribute to all soldiers from Bedford. Memorial Day is a holiday in which we remember those soldiers, men and women, who died in active military service. President Ronald Reagan is credited with reviving the practice of honoring Memorial Day and its meaning. All of the K-4 students walked to the cemetery to place flags along the edges of the roadways and the whole school sang a Patriotic song toge
